The Latin America Film Festival will be screening the film "Amazon Mirror (O Reflexo do Lago) from April 21-May 5. This film was created by Brazilian director and producer Fernando Segtowick and released in 2020. This event is co-organized with the I Andean-Amazon Symposium that will take place on April 25 in the Academic Building Room 5190 on College Avenue Campus.

In the 1980s, the military dictatorship in Brazil built the largest hydroelectric dam in the Amazon in the city of Tucuruí in the state of Pará. Residents of the Caraipé River within the plant’s lake have remained without electricity in their homes since then. A filmmaker and crew explore their decision to stay for 40 years despite the hardships, aiming to uncover their perspectives.
