Laura De Moya-Guerra, a CLAS history grad student affiliate, was awarded an Andrew Mellon Foundation Completion Fellowship in the Humanities. This highly competitive fellowship recognizes outstanding academic trajectories and the significance of doctoral research; notably, only five fellowships were granted to Rutgers PhD candidates this year.
Laura’s dissertation, “Chinese Immigrants and the Making of Modern Colombia, 1903-1980,” examines how Chinese migration shaped Colombia’s racial and national imaginaries across the twentieth century.
